Trench season is back even though it is only for the cool mornings at the moment. I have been looking for a single breasted Mac style trench coat. I also wanted something that was more easy to layer. Many trench coats are very tailored and have slim sleeves which doesn’t really lend itself to layering knits as the season inches towards snowier months. Sezane Clyde Trench Coat Review will share what is different about this trench compared to the other Sezane Trench coat and why I think you could do with both.
Sezane Clyde Trench Coat Review
The Clyde Trench coat is a single breasted, 100% organic cotton, check lined trench coat. There is no belt closure but there is a small back vent. This coat is quite long ending at mid calf for my body.
The first thing I thought of when I put on this trench is how impressive the quality is. It is what I wanted this trench to be. I will definitely be getting rid of the other one because it is just sad in comparison.
I like that the colour is darker that the usual light beige we get in trench coats. And yes this more closely resembles a mac because it is single breasted but the fabric is essentially the same as the Sezane Scott Trench so we will go with their naming convention.
The outer fabric is very similar if not identical to the Scott Trench. But that is where the similarities end. The Scott trench is more of a slim tailored fit. The Clyde is more relaxed and oversized. I feel almost like I am wearing a whole size larger in the Clyde but it is the same numerical size.
The Clyde is single breasted with a classic collar. The Scott has a larger notched collar and double breasted.
Both coats are lined but the Clyde is the only one with a contrast check lining.
There is a small back vent on this coat. Nothing like the statement of the button vent on the Scott Trench but enough to allow for movement.
The biggest thing for me with this trench coat is the generous sleeves. I can easily wear a knit under this coat (like I did above with this sweater). I can’t wear much more than a tee or button front shirt with the Scott which limits the wearability.
However the Scott Trench is more polished of the two with the Clyde providing a more relaxed vibe.
What do you think of Sezane’s latest trench?

Looks great! Can I ask how tall you are? I'm trying to figure out how long this would be on me. Thanks!
