After trying the Sezane Deia shorts and liking them I knew I was going to have to try the Rome shorts. There are some differences between the two short styles but it really comes down to the details. So to make sure I didn’t really double up I made sure to get the Rome shorts in a twill as opposed to a denim fabric. Sharing my Sezane Rome Shorts Review and which pair I like best.

Sezane Rome Shorts Review
The Sezane Rome shorts are a high waisted short with a cuffed flared leg. There are pleats at the waist and a removeable waist belt. They come in sizes 2 to 14. They come in a range of organic cotton, linen and denim options. I have even seen wool or leather options for the winter months.
I got the US 14 in these and I would say that they are true to size.

What I like about these shorts (and the Deia shorts for that matter) is the flared leg. The fact that these shorts are not tight to the leg is such a nice feature. And so many shorts are not cut this way! I think more people would like shorts if they were not tight to the leg for so many people.

These shorts are very similar to the Sezane Deia Shorts. The two big differences are the cuffed leg and the pleats. The Deia shorts do not have a cuff while the Rome shorts do have a cuffed leg. The Rome shorts have a pleat that starts at the waistband, whereas the Deia short has pleats at the front. The difference is the pleat is more pronounced on the Rome short.

If I had to choose between the Deia and Rome shorts I am not sure that I could. It really comes down to the cuffed leg in my mind and maybe the pleat in front.
I like both styles and I don’t find them THAT different. Note that even though the Rome short is cuffed it is the same length overall.
I do prefer the lighter cotton fabric the the denim which is a heavier fabric. Just for sitting around the stretch organic cotton is more comfortable. I think I will get more use out of the Rome shorts for that reason. But the jeans have more structure and I find the belt moves less on its own in the denim.
