I am all for a good skinny jean. They are great in the winter to tuck into boots and wear under over-sized coats. But for many of us skinny jeans aren’t the most flattering on their own.
But shopping for jeans that are not skinny is super hard. There isn’t that much selection once you get past the skinny, skinny boyfriend, skinny skinny and curvy skinny styles.
It seems that even the bootcut and flare styles have gotten extra skinny. The two styles that I personally stick to aside from a dark wash skinny are Trouser jeans and boyfriend jeans.
Trouser jean styles:
2. Level 99 Tanya High-Rise Trousers
3. Gap 1969 Long & Lean Jeans – Medium wash
Boyfriend jean styles:
1. Eastwood jean in dark otis wash
2. Broken-in boyfriend jean in Abbott wash
3. Pilcro Hyphen Destructed Jeans
The two styles that I currently have in my closet and wear regularly are some of the least expensive. Both the sexy boyfriend and the long & lean are basics that fit exceptionally well for the price point.
Trouser styles should be wide not a mis-labled boot cut. I like to see drama when I walk.
The boyfriend styles should be slouchy, easy. More straight leg than any taper. My favourite boyfriend styles are more like my jeans from the 90’s styled in a new way.
What style of jeans do you prefer? Are you into skinny jeans? Or do you prefer to mix it up?

Great post! I love skinny jeans (they're my go to), but it's nice to have some other styles as well, because it keeps things more fun and interesting!

Exactly! A different style of jeans can totally transform the same look.

I love a good flare - nothing better for slimming the waist and lengthening the legs!

Totally agree. I find that a good flare or trouser jean can make me look much slimmer!
