Let me be clear this is not what I was wearing to clear the drive way of snow. For that I was wearing snow pants, parka, hat and my warmest mittens. Winter boots were a must with snow drifts that went up past my knees. I took a long break after the snow plow buried in the end of the driveway eliminating about 30 mins of the 1.5 hours I had put into shoveling early yesterday morning.
Once I had breakfast and a bit of a rest I put all my warmest gear back on a gain to finish the job. I was so blessed to have the young tween boy from across the street to offer to come and help me out. This is our first real snow day since leaving Toronto last summer – all the schools were closed for the day.
You might have noticed this is my first outfit post in a few weeks. I caught some virus going around and had a weird side effect of swelling in my hands and even numbness in my fingers. It culminated with a trip to the ER and since that bad night everything has slowly gotten back to normal. Thankfully!!
I shared this hat briefly on Instagram but wanted to wear it here as well. I had contacted Katherine from Simple Smiles to create a version of Mira Duma’s hat (seen here). She did an amazing job! It is such a fun piece.
Heels might look great with an outfit like this but with this much snow they just aren’t overly practical. Especially to go without socks.
Sneakers on the other hand make much more sense. Ok maybe not for extensive time outside or actually wading through the snow but for a quick in and out of the car they totally work.
I picked up these New Balance sneakers to have a more fashion sneaker that would look cool whilst travelling. I love that the navy works with everything and the pink adds a bit of girly girl.
On a totally different note I am happy to be co-hosting the Reasons to Dress link up this week. This fantastic link up comes from Canadian ex-pat living with her gorgeous family in Italy (so jealous!!) and Angie has a great premise behind her blog. I think it is the same reason many of us mom’s who blog got into style blogging in the first place. It is all about finding our style after having babies and staying at home to raise them. It is about finding our reasons to get dressed when you are no longer going into the office every day and the only other people who see you are stay at home moms.
So grab a button and link up your latest posts!
