Sue Sartor is one of those brands that I see routinely on social media especially through the summer months. I was influenced to buy their signature Flounce Dress last year. I didn’t get to wear it much before the season ended last year and wanted to wear it a few more times before I shared my Sue Sartor Flounce Dress Review.
Sue Sartor Flounce Dress Review
The Sue Sartor Flounce Dress is hand stamped in Jaipur and made of cotton. It is lined so there is nothing that is see through. There is a 2 inch neru collar which I think is a nice high neck option for summer. The full skirt is tiered and the buttons are fabric covered.
The bodice is fairly slim cut, or at least more so than I expected from a kaftan company. I expected something more loose like this. The top piece and skirt are not just one full loose fitting dress. Underneath the sash is a seam. One me it fits fairly high, above the natural waist.
I got the large in the Sue Sartor Flounce dress. According to my measurements this works well. However I do find the dress snug through the chest area. The top piece is fairly fitted whereas the skirt is plenty full for my shape.
I find the belt loops and pockets also sit high on this dress, higher than I would naturally place my hands in my pockets.
I do think that this dress was designed for someone less curvy. Even the sash that you see the models wear double wrapped has not be sized up to allow for that in size Large. I can double wrap it but I then can not tie in a bow.
What makes the Sue Sartor Flounce dress? The handmade front placket seems to be the defining feature. The sleeves are also pretty distinguishing but there is a sleeveless version of this dress in addition to a shorty version.
The cotton is super soft. And the dress washes easily. I also think that this dress has a longer season because of the longer sleeves and lined cotton it is a bit warmer than my high street fashion alternatives.
Size wise if I were to order again I would get the extra large over the large. I just prefer a looser fit especially since I can cinch with the belt.
I adore the prints this dress comes in particularly the Zinnias print that is new this year.
