My beach bags have been get more of a work out at this time of year when we head to the beach or to neighbour’s pools. My criteria for a great beach bag is one that is big enough to carry some towels, sunscreen and snacks. I like longer straps so you can throw the bag over your sholder. I have done a round up of all my favourite summer beach bags out there right now.
Summer Beach Bag Style
- Oversized straw bag – I love a large bag. I have ones in this woven straw but this one takes the cake as it is HUGE! I also love these wraps from the same seller.
- Geo Woven Tote Bag – This bag has that boho vibe and even comes with a tassel. This bag has a zip top which is great if you don’t over pack it with towels like I do.
- Woven yellow stripe tote bag – This bright stripe screams summer. Kinda reminds me of a beach umbrella or lounge cushions. This one has a zip top and some side compartments to slip your water or flip flops.
- Woven basket bag with webbing strap – I have a few of these bags but they don’t have the longer webbing strap. Not only does the strap add some visual interest but it makes the bag easier to carry when they get heavy.
- Arabella Tote bag – this bag is a bit smaller than the others. I love the boho detail but it would probably be better as a purse or as a beach bag for one.
- Handwoven African Sisal bag – I LOVE these bags. And I can vouch for this seller as I have bought her bags before. This bag would be a bit small unless you need a beach bag for one.
- Waterproof tote bag – Love this bag as it is waterproof so if you are carrying wet towels and bathing suits home this bag can handle it. Also you can personalize it!
- Batik patterned shopper – with the tie dye trend going strong this bag feels very relevant. Plus great for those neutral lovers.
- Handmade jute beach bag – love the round shape for something different. But likely better as a beach bag for one.
- Gingham woven tote – this bag feels extra preppy with the woven print.
- Escape printed bag – This bag is so simple it could almost be an easy summer DIY.
If you just want something plain and easy get yourself a french basket bag. Preferably one with longer straps. Or you can get one with pompoms and a fun saying.
Why tote style is your summer beach bag?

I have a vintage straw bag and my mum gave a blue and purple gingham woven tote she bought in Brittany. I couldn't live without them. The first one is little too small but the other one is big enough to carry pretty much everything I need to go to the beach with my twin girls. Great selection!

Thank you! Always need a big tote to lug all the towels and kid stuff to the beach.
