I took last week off blogging to just enjoy summer. I went up to the cottage, we lounged in our extra large kiddie pool and I finished three novels. I just wasn’t feeling the whole blogging thing so I didn’t push it.
Shop the stripe shirts to wear with everything:
Part of what was holding me back was that I feel like I am wearing much of the same thing on repeat. Classics. Much like this outfit of white jeans and stripe shirt. Which is really just a repeat of this outfit blogged earlier this spring. But keeping it real I have been wearing a version of this switching out the white jeans for work pants or shorts as the situation suits.
If you are into YA fiction and are looking for a good read I just finished both of Mary Pearson’s Remnant series. Seriously I wish there were many more books in this serious so I could devour them right now but I have to wait!
If you like future dystopian type novels much like the Divergent or Hunger Games series you will like these. The first novel The Kiss of Deception has so many mysteries to solve. Who is the Assassin, who is the Prince? Why does it seem like this is some distant future but at the same time there is a feudal medieval feel to the society in the books? There is romance, adventure, lies and intrigue.
Without giving too much away there is some sort of event, whether it is a catastrophic environmental event like a meteor hitting the earth or even the way things are described it could have been nuclear missiles that devastated the Ancients (ie us!) there is a remnant society that evolves from the survivors in what I think is North America. With one kingdom in the California area, another in around Texas and the third in the more desolate North East (think New York, Maine even into Ontario & Quebec) it makes for interesting backdrop when you completely change what we know of society!
Along with all the drama amongst the characters is the lead character Lia trying to get a better understanding of the history that binds all the different kingdoms. I am so addicted I can’t wait to read more!

I like the outfit. I've been really into button up shirts this season, especially for work. Good to know that BR has some nice ones.
