Lately I am very into linen pants. They are a great way to beat the heat in the summer while still looking a bit more elevated than shorts. When I saw the Going Places Gauze drawstring pant from Summersalt I thought that would be a similar but different summer pant option I want to try. The Summersalt Going Places pant review will share my thoughts on this beach pant and if it will replace my trusty wide leg linen trousers this summer.
Summersalt Going Places Pant Review
The Summersalt Going Places pants are a drawstring elastic waist pant made from organic cotton gauze. The fabric is super soft and comfortable. These pants come in three colours; a sage green, navy and white
Size wise I got an XL which according to the size chart is a 12 – 14. Well the pants fit very large. I would say the size chart is at least a size off on these pants. They fit fine around the waist but there is so much fabric in the legs that I could easily size down. These pants also fit very high waisted for me. I measured the rise and it was like 17 inches. I can easily wear these pants around my rib cage.
You can also see that they are long. The inseam is supposedly 27.5 which I would have thought would be slightly cropped or at least ankle length on me. But as you can see I was able to roll these pants twice. I measured the inseam on the XL I have and it was closer to 29 inches. So with the rise and the inseam I got more pant than I bargained for.
But here is the thing, as much as I feel I would have done better with a size down I don’t hate the look. These are beach pants, not tailored office trousers, and so the relaxed vibe works. I do think all the extra fabric would have worked better if the pants were wide leg not tapered, but I don’t hate these pants.
I don’t love them either. They aren’t going to replace my wide leg linen trousers or even my tapered linen pants that I can wear to the office. I would wear these to the beach or sightseeing in a hot locale.
You also have to wear something slim on top to balance the balloon effect on the bottom.
These pants are 30% off right now so I think they are a better price point. And I would definitely recommend sizing down. Know that I don’t say that very often, especially for curvy bodies.
