The new IT sneaker; Slip on Sneakers

If you follow all the it girls in the fashion world you might have noticed that they have started sporting slip on sneakers.

It’s not that they are ditching their hightops or wedge sneakers all together but there is a movement afoot. Low tops, specifically slipper sneakers are becoming the new IT sneakers.

Wedge sneakers took a while to catch onto main stream and become wildly copied. For the most part the slip on sneaker is still a high fashion item with only a few low end versions. But you know when Zara copies something it must be cool. Or was once cool?

This style of sneaker is kind of a mash-up between a slipper loafer and a running shoe. They are definitely edgier than say Bensimons or Supergas which are very preppy. Definitely menswear inspired but I think I would have a hard time pulling these off. I think I would actually stick with a slipper loafer which can still look a bit funky but at the same time seems more polished.

I have seen girls pair these with everything from shorts and skirts to trousers. These could be a fun walk to work shoe which could have people looking twice to see whether you are wearing sneakers or dress shoes? But again I go back to the actual slipper loafer which I think would be a better fit for most work environments.
