When it comes to fall layering the perfect fall scarf is a must. For me that means something in a lightweight wool that won’t be too bulky but will still add warmth on a chilly morning.
Whether it is merino wool or cashmere, or a blend of wool and silk, try to keep the materials natural because they will stay light and breathable. Also stay away from anything too itchy near your neck and face with are more sensitive.
When it comes to trends for trends for fall scarves in 2012, look for paisley prints, animal prints, rich jewel tones and oversized scarves that can be wrapped a number of ways. Square shapes and fringed edges continue to be popular.

The key difference between your winter scarf and a fall scarf is the weight. Fall scarves should be lighter, winter scarves can be heavier and chunkier. Still a good lightweight wool scarf can be all you need on many winter days as well as long as it isn’t minus 40!
