I read somewhere recently that last night was not the first Toronto based Fashion Night Out. That a few years back the Bay hosted some Fashion Night Out events at their Queen Street Store.
Still this was the first city-wide, multiple vendor, Fashion Night Out party extravaganza.
While some people tried to do it all, hitting up everything from Yorkdale, Holt Renfrew, to Queen West and anything in between, I chose to stay downtown and just sample of few of the parties going on in honour of #FNO_Toronto. In hashtag speak that is Fashion Night Out Toronto.
The first place we stopped at was the eluxe party. Apparently I didn’t read the fine print and you had to rsvp for this party and we didn’t do that. Still it was early in the night so we were let in – YEA!
The picture above has the new Smythe for eluxe blazer and I must say if you are in the market for a black blazer this one is pretty fab!
For me the highlight of the eluxe party (aside from getting to rub shoulders with Susie Sheffman at the same event) was the table of sparkly jewels from Rebekah Price.
The pieces were so fun and very now with mixed materials, large gemstones, and fun cocktail rings. This table made me forget that the candy table even existed.
After the eluxe party we headed over to Queen West and the Bazaar by Rac.
The great thing about shopping a Bazaar like this that brings together a whole lotta boutiques from across Toronto is that you can get a taste of all the stores in one setting instead of driving all over the city.
The bad thing about it, at least shopping it on Fashion Night Out is that it is crazy busy. And hot. But I do have a short list of places I want to go back and visit finally; like Life of Manek and 69 Vintage.
In addition to shops that I have added to my mental must visit list, I also fell further in love with Toronto designed Fischer Street. I love the edgy boho feel of the pieces. I seriously need to invest in something from this line.
Note that the Bazaar will continue to be open through today and tomorrow so you can still shop without all the #FNO craziness.
And that was all folks. My friend and I escaped the craziness that was #FNO and had a drink at a nearby pub and chatted before we jumped back on the streetcar home.
I think next year I will try do more events because you don’t have to be at any one too long. Just like shopping you can make an appearance, walk around see whats what and move on!
Did you go out for Fashion Night Out? Where did you go?
