Toronto Fashion Week or World Mastercard Fashion Week has kicked off and I feel like a giddy little girl. I have always wanted to attend a Fashion show and I will definitely get my fill this week.
The first show I saw was Lucian Matis. It wasn’t held at the tents but at The Royal York hotel in Ballroom C. Gorgeous location for a beautiful collection.
You can see that the intricate scroll and lace work was amazing at Lucian Matis. It does make the clothing hard to wear for your average woman but gorgeous nonetheless.
What did make me want to see what Lucian Matis feels like on is that the structure and weight of the fabrics looked like his designs would fit like a dream and be super flatter not just on models. Still those dresses and spit up wouldn’t exactly work.
The collection was largely black with nude underlay but from the photo above you can see that some dark green snuck its way into the collection. Is it crazy that I thought the ensembles with feathers were more wearable?
Unfortunately my regular camera died on me after Lucian Matis (typical of me) and so I was stuck using my blackberry and itouch to grab pictures from the media seats (aka nosebleeds) was tough.
The above snaps are from Korhani Home, actually an interiors company but the fashions above are all made using get this CARPET! It was so cool. There were three distinct segments of their show. The first was Mongolian inspired, the second Brit Punk (very Vivian Westwood-esque) and the third was like a Venetian Ball.
I also attended the Holt Renfrew show but my pictures were even worse as I was even higher up for that show. Still this is the gist. Opening tap dancer was amazing. Leather accents (Mackage, Smythe), structured and drapped dresses, Kaffe Fasset inspired knits (from Line) and old Hollywood glitz. I am looking forward to getting to see more from Line as the mini collections went by so fast.
Looking forward to day 2!
