Ways to wear Leopard

Leopard print came back with a vengence this spring and summer. It seemed like every it girl was wearing leopard jeans or pants. I would argue leopard or animal print is a classic print. It is always there but it does wax and wane with how popular it is. It is funny that trends are on such a fast cycle at this point that I have seen this popularity surge multiple times now in my blogging journey. First there were the cheetah coats, often vintage back in around 2012. Followed quickly by leopard skinny jeans and leopard shoes. Around that time mixing prints was so popular you would see leopard mixed with florals and stirpes. More recently there was the leopard slip skirts. These are the ways to wear leopard print right now.

Ways to wear Leopard

1. Leopard sweater – It has been a while since I had a sweater like this in my closet but I think this year is going to be the year to rectify that. I have my eye on one from Sezane. But I like this option too. It is a bit bolder with the yellow. I like that you just pair it with an otherwise black outfit and it will pop but still be fairly neutral at the same time.
2. Leopard jeans – These have been everywhere since spring. At least on my instagram! I like that these are a bit darker that other options I have seen. I also like these but they are a bit more punchy. I would pair with a black or brown sweater most of the time. But the nice thing about leopard or animal print in general is that you can pair red or other bright colours with it just as well.
3. Leopard bag – I have this bag and I love it. I think accessories are the easiest way to participate in a trend or a bolder pattern. You don’t have to commit to a head to toe look. Just a pop of leopard.
4. Leopard Scarf – This is something I have continued to wear every year whether it is popular or not. Easily goes with black or brown coats. Always looks chic.
5. Leopard shoes – I have shown a pair of loafers but you can rock leopard sneakers or boots. Just like a leopard bag, leopard shoes are a way to do this trend on a small scale that still gives a pop but doesn’t take as much courage as something more bold.

Of course you could try doing something more bold like a dress or a coat. But I think that based on where the trend is right now jeans are really what we are seeing alot of these days and the other options are easy ways to dabble without fully committing. A dress, the jeans or a coat are great options but they stand out more and will likely be over more quickly.

As much as I love that leopard jeans are back I am not sure that I can see them in my wardrobe long term. I mostly wear dark denim and I worry that these would be too jazzy or overpowering. I don’t seem to have a problem with other leopard items though.
