When trends come back into style like the crop top you have to ask yourself if this is something best left for the weekend, or teenagers, or is it so ridiculous I am not even going to go there?!
Crop tops are something I am treading lightly but I know others have pulled it off rather fabulously. I love the whole crop top with a high waisted demure skirt look. It is a favourite amongst fashion bloggers and I have seen some of the matchy-matchy iterations look fantastic even for wedding guest attire.
The key to pulling it off is to barely show any skin. It is more about a hint of what could be seen rather than belly bearing tops.
I put this outfit together thinking about my new life back in the office. How can I play with trends but still be office appropriate?
The key is still the same, it isn’t about showing skin, it is just about a different silhouette.
I chose a high waisted trouser (mine are red but you could just as easily gone with black, grey or what ever you usually wear to the office) so that the top and the trouser meet much like you had tucked in a longer blouse. Really that is all there is to it. Lower waist trousers and this top would just not work.
I remember in around the early aughts pants were getting lower and lower and the t-shirt lengths had not really caught up. I hated having low waist jeans and waist length t-shirts. I was uncomfortable and tugging at my shirts for coverage. Thankfully t-shirt lengths run from the trendy crop to longer lengths now, so that is not a problem. We also are having a moment of higher waisted (or at least not Britney Spears, super low riders) pants so things appear to be lining up nicely.

So pretty. I totally agree that crop tops this time around are better with high waisted skirts/pants.

Yes it is a must. I can't do the whole mid-drift thing again.

Wow. I love this look on you. Great colour combo.for work, I would probably wear a cami/tank top underneath.

Thanks Julie! If worried about showing skin that would be a great option.
