Back in June we did a road trip to Hilton Head Island. We did a bunch of stops along the way but our destination was Hilton Head where we stayed at the Westin Resort for three nights before making the trip back north again. Sharing our Westin Hilton Head Island Resort Review below.
Westin Hilton Head Island Resort Review
As you can see from the picture above the Westin Hilton Head Island is a large Atlantic beach front resort. I chose this resort because of the beach front access and it did not disappoint. The one thing to note though is that although this hotel looks like a large all inclusive resort it is not one. Which means even the beach chairs set up along the ocean are for rent.
We found ourselves in the ocean most of the time so having a lounger didn’t really matter. We went back to the pool to relax when we wanted a change of scenery.
Note that the waves were fairly active every day while we were there. The water is shallow enough for beginner swimmers but the waves make things a bit of a challenge. We actually didn’t swim but did more jumping in the waves and let them crash over us.
There are three oceanfront pools. One large pool that is deeper in the middle. One covered pool and one smaller wading pool. There is also a hot tub.
Chairs poolside do tend to get snagged first and fill up through the day but there was loads of availability in other areas on the decks around the pool. Note that the cabanas are for rent so you will have to pay extra for those premium spots.
Our room was just a two queen island view room. Which means we had a balcony but no real view. We could see the dog park from our room on the side of the hotel. Yes this hotel is dog friendly!
Our room was nice, the bathroom was spacious. I did find that the room looked great at first. Kind of a hybrid between what I am used to at a hotel and an all inclusive. It had some of the Caribbean or southern feel in the room. But upon closer inspection you could see these rooms were well used as some of the furniture was well worn. The toilet in our bathroom was a bit sensitive too as it was easily clogged and you had to hold the handle down to ensure everything flushed away.
Food wise there are four different dining options. We tried two of the restaurants. The first day we arrived we ate poolside at Splash. Everyone tried something different. Burgers, hotdogs and I had fish tacos. The food was quite good although expensive.
We tried the Carolina Room on the day we decided to pop over to Savannah. Originally we just wanted to have an early dinner and then go back to the room but the Carolina room didn’t open until 5:30 so instead we went back and had a swim and showers before dining. We had a similar experience to Splash, the food was good but expensive. You can definitely have similar caliber of food off the resort for a bit less money.
The resort has a mixture of outdoor and underground parking. The electric car charging can be found in the underground parking garage. There are two chargers. One dedicated Tesla charger and another more universal charger. We did have to wait at times to use the charging as there were other EV drivers also charging.
Overall we had a great stay at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort. The hotel allowed us easy access to the fantastic Hilton Head Island beaches. It was easy enough to navigate from the hotel to get to restaurants and shopping on the island. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the comfortable rooms and great atmosphere.
