I was underwhelmed by most of what other bloggers were sharing from the sale this year. But now that I have had a chance to take a look through what is available I think there are some good staples and fun shoes that are worth the prices. I am least thrilled by the coats this year. I think there have been better options in years past. This is what caught my eye from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
My Picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
- Moonlight pajamas – this is one of the few things I saw other bloggers talking about and I thought they were super cute. This is the weight and fabric I like my pjs. However upon further refection I realized that these are not a good fit for me since I tend not to like sets. I generally like part of a set (usually the pants) but not the the whole set.
- Cozy joggers – these are more my speed when it comes to pj lounge pants. I tend to wear a lightweight jogger and a long sleeve tee. As such I tend to buy separates not sets.
- Wool Cashmere drape cardigan – I actually already own this cardigan from last years sale. However it fits quite large. I ended up wearing it at home mostly as a lounge sweater. I was thinking to get a second in a size down that I could keep in more pristine condition for travel. Alternatively I could try out one of these that seem to be popular but I prefer the composition of the wool cashmere option.
- Twist top – I already own this sweater in two colours. I frequently get compliments on this top and I like the idea of stocking up while it is on sale.
- Coltyn bootie – These might be my favourite item in the sale. How hot do these booties look? They are fierce.
- Freya Bootie – If you are looking for a more classic boot this is a gorgeous option. I also own these from last years sale and they are a fantastic option as well.
- Lucy Flat – There was quite a bit of animal print in this years sale. I like the shape of this loafer it would be great for the office.
- Coltyn bootie – ok yes this is the same boot as before but this is a classic black option in a moc croc. Another fantastic boot option if this is something you need in your closet.
- Oaklane Wool Cashmere coat – this coat is way out of my budget but it is gorgeous. I love the style and the colour. If this coat makes it through the sale and gets marked down in October I will have to watch for it but for now I will have to see what the high street has to offer in a similar colour.
- Star Double face coat – how fun is this?! The star print is such a novelty. Probably not the most practical but if you are looking for a statement coat this is fantastic.
- Stripe Cashmere scarf – This scarf is a great option if you are looking for something chic to pull double duty while you travel. Great for one the plane while you are trying to sleep. Great for while you travel as a scarf.
- Newport Hooded waterproof raincoat – I in no way need another raincoat but I am drawn to them because I hate getting wet. Love that this has a hood and is waterproof. The lining is cute too.
Personally I wasn’t into the cheap acrylic sweaters that most of the other bloggers were sharing or the fleece. I don’t see longevity of those items in my wardrobe. Instead I like the more classic with a twist items shared here.
Are you shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary sale this year?
Canadian’s keep in mind that we can not shop this sale early even if we are card holders, at least not online. This is the same as other years. I have always had to wait until general access, unless I want to drive into Toronto. There is a rumor that Nordstrom is developing a dedicated Canadian website – maybe that will mean our Nordstrom card will finally offer the same perks as in the US. There just aren’t enough Nordstrom locations across Canada.
