Summer is half over and I feel like I am ready to move onto cooler temperatures. I am over summer dresses. I choose to wear linen pants to work instead of dresses lately. Most of what I have bought lately is home stuff because we are renovating our upstairs level. Or bras or office type clothes. Last year since we rarely saw clients in our office I wore jeans all the time. These days I feel like dressing for the office again. I want to wear trousers and have a more polished outfit.
Bras – probably my most successful purchase in this entire list are my new bras. I have always liked this style from the same brand but I just wasn’t feeling like they were doing the job as well. It could just be that they were old but I was inspired to get a new style. I tried out three different bras. This one, this and this compression style. The first two are my favourites. The minimizer bra does a good job but I never find compression styles as comfortable. If I had to pick one favourite it would be this one.
Frill shoulder top – this top is gorgeous. The print is just lovely and it is a crisp cotton. The only drawback is the frills are very poufy. I feel like I need to iron them a bit more flat. Still considering the top is on sale and is a great option for the office I am taking it as a win
Wide Flared trousers – I really wanted these to work. I thought they would be similar to these which I love. They are not. I should have read the description a bit closer because it wasn’t just a linen pant but a linen viscose blend. The fabric is awful. And the fit is too tight across the hips. RETURNED.
Wool Trousers – I now have these trousers in 4 colours. Technically the grey pant is a bit different but not really that much. I do find that all the colours fit a bit different. Even the ones that are the exact same style. The black fits the smallest of the bunch, which is unfortunate since it is the one colour that is still full price! I am back to wanting to wear a more true trouser to work. These get points for comfort because of the elastic waist.
Blue ditzy floral top – I threw this top in my basket just to fill out the order. It ended up being really cute. Will likely wear tucked in with high waist trousers most of all. It would also work with some jean shorts on a hot day just worn loose. The straps are wide enough that you don’t have to worry about what bra to pair with it. Really pretty light weight top.
Everything else I have bought lately is home stuff hasn’t arrived yet. I am so excited to get rid of our ugly brown carpet that we have lived with since moving to this house 7 years ago. We are going to replace with hardwood upstairs and a lighter off white carpet on the stairs. It is going to transform everything on the second story. We have been painting as a result as it makes sense to paint before the new flooring comes. The spare room in our house was a dumping ground and was bright yellow. The previous owners used the room as a kids room but now that we have painted it is amazing. It has inspired me to actually decorate this room for use as opposed to a sort of closet room. I will definitely do a post on the transformation. Hopefully it will be complete before the kids go back to school in September.
