It is officially 1 month to Christmas, well Christmas eve anyways. This month is actually my most favourite. I enjoy the run up and the anticipation more than the actual event. This is because Christmas morning goes by in a flash and then we often spend the next 3 days or so in the car travelling there and back across the 401. Often in some sort of blizzardy weather.
If like me you spend much of the days surrounding Christmas travelling this guide is for you.
What to pack for Christmas Travel:
Christmas Weekend 1: bag// coat// hat// boots// scarf// sweater
Christmas Weekend 2: bag// coat// hat// boots// sweater// scarf
Christmas Weekend 3: bag// coat// hat// boots// sweater// scarf
I generally try to stay more casual and comfortable on the days where we have to travel. That means dark skinny jeans that easily tuck inside my winter boots and some sort of festive knit. I am more the red sweater or fair isle type than a cheeky Christmas sweater but I do think this one is fun.
Generally we don’t stay more than overnight anywhere we are going to visit for Christmas so a weekender bag is more than enough space for each of us, and the nice thing about casual family gatherings is that you don’t have to worry about packing too many shoe options – winter boots are usually enough.
I never go anywhere without a big scarf to finish off my outfit. Whether I pop out of the car without my jacket or it is a very blistery day and not one inch of me can exposed to air a scarf is a must have.
All of the coats I have picked are good for car travel. Which means they aren’t a heavy parka that will be much too hot within minutes of getting in the car. If you are going somewhere where you will be doing much outside activities I would suggest to bring the parka along but don’t wear it otherwise you will be awkwardly pulling that off while confined to your seat on the road.
