What to pack for Disney World

Lately I have been dreaming of going back to Disney. We went back in 2016 but since then there have been a bunch of new attractions open and I just feel like I could use a bit of that Disney magic. Plus it would be really fun to go back with the kids and see their reactions to the park three years later. If I was heading off tomorrow this is what to pack for Disney World.

What to Pack for Disney World

  1. Mickey Tee – One thing to remember to pack for Disney World is all the Disney swag. Mickey tees are just the begining though! Pricesses, Star Wars and Marvel tees are all great options too.
  2. Biker Nylon Backpack – You are going to want to take a cool looking backpack with you to the parks. Ours was stuff with snacks, layers (for rain and warmth), sandwiches, cameras and extra sunscreen. You don’t really need massive backpack but one that is roomy enough for snacks and light layers.
  3. Red & White dotted Jersey Dress – The last time we were at Disney my daughter was still in the Princess phase so every princess tee was packed. But we also did a few Minnie Disney bounds (see the picture above). Red and white paired with black and white polka dots, topped off with ears and some yellow sandals make a very good Minnie bound. Kids are allowed to wear costumes so bounds aren’t necessary but they sure are cute.
  4. Polka dot leggings – For a Minnie Mouse bound you could go with plain black leggings but I like how these polka dot ones play off the smaller dot on the dress.
  5. Star Wars Tee – Not everyone is into Mickey and Friends but a Star Wars tee works at the parks too. Maybe you want to save them for Hollywood Studios? Because Florida tends to be hot, even in the colder months, I made sure to pack enough tees for every day. Even if you have to layer over them for the mornings or evenings tees are essential for packing for Disney World.
  6. Curvy High Rise Denim shorts – As much as I like to think I could wear cute dresses wandering Disney all day it is more likely that I would wear shorts and a tee. For spring and fall I would pack at least one pair of jeans or pants just in case. For the winter months I would pack two or three. Florida can get cold. Back when I was a tween I was in Miami once when there was frost. However this isn’t really the norm.
  7. Minnie Mouse Sunglasses – I got my kids each a pair of this type of sunglasses when we were in Disney last time. They do have so many different characters so you aren’t just pigeonholed to Mickey or Minnie.
  8. Classic Khaki short – my husband is the type that when we go to Florida the shorts come out no matter what! This style has a bit of stretch for extra comfort.
  9. 696 Runner Sneakers – comfortable cool sneakers are a must for a trip to Disney because there is so much walking. My old New Balance were toast after our trip to London, but I have already snapped up this pair.
  10. Swimsuit with flounce – how cute is this swimsuit? I mean I want it in adults! It definitely give Minnie Vibes. When we took our kids to Disney last time we went to the parks every other day and spent the off days lounging at the pool.
  11. Leather Padded Sandals – this cute yellow sandals were key for finishing off the whole Minnie look. Plus a cute and comfortable pair of sandals are a great alternative to runners when wandering the park.
  12. Air Span II sneakers – guys need cute sneakers too don’t they? These have a sporty vibe but still look more polished than your average sneakers. For a trip like Disney where there is lots of walking I like to have two alternating pairs of shoes that way if one gives me blisters I have an alternative.
  13. Mickey Tote – while I am walking at the parks I prefer a back pack because you are hands free and it doesn’t kill your shoulders. But the Mickey tote is perfect for a beach bag or a carry on.
  14. Mickey tee – Boys don’t have to be left out of the Mickey action there are loads of cute Disney tees for them too. When I am packing for the kids I tend to add a few extra outfits just in case. Same with the backpack for the park. Pack an oops outfit just in case. It will save you from having to buy expensive swag to get through the rest of the day.
  15. Cooler Backpack – one of the smartest things we did the last time we were at Disney was to use a cooler backpack for our food. Did you know you can take food into Disney parks? We made sure to pack snacks, drinks and even some sandwiches. This saved us from buying the Disney food every time someone was hungry.

Other fun things you might want to pack for Disney World are a rain jacket, some fun socks, and cute pjs. If you are visiting during the shoulder seasons I would suggest packing light layers for the mornings. If you are going in the winter season you will have to watch to see what weather they have while you will be there as to whether your will need pants instead of shorts and even coats!
