What to Pack for Mallorca

The sunny Spanish island of Mallorca is a European beach paradise. And although it is not as popular in North America, it offers a wonderful alternative to the usual Caribbean island holiday. But does what you pack change when you are switching up from a Caribbean all inclusive to a Mallorcan escape? I am sharing what to pack for Mallorca now that I have had a chance to experience it for myself.

What to Pack for Mallorca

First off let’s set the record straight. Mallorca and Majorca are referring to the same Spanish Belearic Island. Mallorca is technically the correct spelling as it is the official Spanish spelling. Majorca is the anglicized spelling and is still heavily used in the UK, especially for holiday marketing. I am going to use Mallorca.

We stayed in Cala D’or for most of our time on Mallorca but we also spent one night in Palma the capital city. We could not fly to Mallorca direct from Canada so we flew to London first and had a few days there before taking an Easy Jet flight to Palma. It was so close! Less than 3 hours to get to Palma from London. Because we had a few days in London I had to pack a mixture of what would work in both areas. Find my London packing list here.

  1. Stripe tee – I packed enough t-shirts for almost every day of our trip. I did pack some dresses too so I adjusted the amount of tees to account for the nights wearing a dress. If space wasn’t at a premium because I was going carry on only I would have likely packed a few extra just in case.
  2. Square neck tank – I only packed tees but I also like these square neck tanks as an alternative option. Great for layering under a jean jacket too.
  3. Long linen shirtdress – I used a long linen shirtdress as a bathing suit cover up. I could have used it as a dress one night but I tend not to. I like having the long sleeves in case I am cool after being in the pool or ocean. Or just to hide from the intense sun. Although I didn’t find the sun as intense on Mallorca as it is in the Caribbean.
  4. Wide leg linen pants – In the past I would have packed lots of dresses for every night of the holiday. This time around I was more into wearing wide leg linen pants. They worked great for days wandering sightseeing and for a chic dinner look.
  5. Printed skirt – I talk about packing dresses which is my usual go to but a skirt like this one can be a great option too. Pull it over your bathing suit to go for lunch. Wear it with a tank or tee for dinner.
  6. Colorblock swim suit – I packed two bathing suits for Mallorca. I really like the color block and neckline on this one.
  7. Wedge sandals – I wore these sandals every night on Mallorca. The foam wedge bottom is so comfortable.
  8. Freya Sandals – I am showing these sandals because I think they are a cool addition to the looks here but I actually only packed 2 pairs of sandals and one pair of sneakers for travel and sightseeing days.
  9. Birkenstock EVA – I wish I had of packed my Birks and that is why they are on this round up. Instead I packed a pair of leather sandals that weren’t the best pick for poolside. Loads of people were wearing Birks and that just made me wish I had of packed mine more.
  10. Milo Bag – I actually used a different Sezane bag for my trip but I think this one looks more summery.
  11. Ultra Violet Sunscreen – I have been using this sunscreen this summer. It comes out tinted but doesn’t look or feel like makeup when you blend it in. It is a bit thicker than my other favourite sunscreens (like this one).
  12. Hat – A big hat is always a must for a sunny holiday. I packed a crushable one because I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to get through Easy Jet with a hat but everyone was just wearing their hats so it would have been fine.
  13. Sunglasses – I only pack cheapie sunglasses because then if I lose them it isn’t a big deal. These are my faves.
  14. Beach Bag – We actually packed a few beach bags and a small cooler. This allowed us to bring some drinks to the pool because we were not at an all inclusive. We also had a grocery bag to pop over to the small grocery stores that were all very close to our resort.

Now because the flight time is so short from Europe to Mallorca there were people who go for the weekend, whereas we were there for closer to a week. But you can adapt this packing list to the number of nights you are visiting Mallorca. Just don’t forget PJs and underwear and toiletries.

What do you think of what to pack for Mallorca? Have you been to this island?
