We just got back from a 5 day trip to Nassau Bahamas at the Baha Mar resort. It was a gorgeous escape to a warm tropical paradise. I thought I would share what I packed and what I wore and didn’t wear while we were there. We packed carry on only so I had to be ruthless in what I packed. And sneak things into my husbands suitcase if necessary. This is what to pack for the Bahamas.
What to pack for the Bahamas
- Fleur top – going out to eat while on vacation I used to be all about dresses. Now I like to have at least one outfit with some sort of loose pants for when I get sick of dresses. This top would look so good with some flowy black linen pants.
- Linen pants – these pants might not cost very much but they make a statement and are cool and breezy. You could also wear these pants for your travel day.
- Selene Dress – I always pack at least three dresses (up to 4 or 5 depending on how many nights we go away) to wear to dinner. The resort we were at in Bahamas had food trucks and the nights we ate there I didn’t dress up at all so less fancy clothes were needed.
- Mariam Dress – Usually when we go to the Caribbean we are at an all inclusive resort. And while people dress up for dinner it isn’t necessarily high end clothing. In Bahamas I saw so much designer clothing! It definitely isn’t a prerequisite but know that you can bring your A game to this island and fit right in.
- Linen Tie Belt Dress – I like dresses that can pull double duty. This dress would look gorgeous dressed up for dinner. But it could also be worn loose as a coverup during the day.
- Clara Beach Slide – my feet don’t love flat sandals as much as they used to but these have a nice cushion and feel comfortable with the soft leather. The white also looks great against a tan.
- Redwood Straw hat – This is the hat I bought with me. I love it for a number of reasons. One it comes sized. I have the large. I like the detail that is woven throughout. And I like that it is black which feels very different than anything else I have in my hat collection.
- Linen Dress – I packed this dress in the now sold out red colour. It is a bit sheer so it makes a great beach coverup but not something I was going to wear to dinner.
- Low Rosa Sandals – I wore these gold sandals to dinner most nights. The low heel is super walkable and the gold makes them look super fancy.
- Sunglasses – I packed a few pairs of sunglasses but mostly wore these designer dupes.
- Navy One piece – I packed three bathing suits but only wore two. I feel like you need enough that you can always wear a dry bathing suit. It wasn’t as humid in the room where we stayed so things dried out more quickly. Sometimes I feel like I need to rotate three bathing suits.
- Seaway Square Neck – The bathing suit I wore the most was similar to this one. A black square neck bathing suit is always super flattering.
- Cotton Canvas Beach bag – Usually I carry this bag when I am heading to the pool or beach. However it is too rigid to easily pack in a small carry on suitcase. So instead I packed this cotton canvas beach bag. It is huge and can carry loads. I have it in multiple colours.
- Snorkel set – we went snorkeling every day in Bahamas. The water was so clear and calm. This set was great for what we were doing. We have three of these now all colour coded for different people in the house to keep them separate.
- Cooler Bag – Ok you might be wondering why I have a cooler on this round up. But since the hotel we stayed at was NOT all inclusive we brought a collapseable/foldable cooler with us to have cold drinks and food with us at the pool each day. We bought our left over pizza or dinner from the night before and our pop or beer in the cooler instead of buying expensive food for every meal. Our cooler wasn’t exactly leak proof so we used some of these large reusable zip lock bags to fill with ice to keep everything cool and avoid any drips. Basically we made an extra large freezer pack every day.
Other items I packed were my toiletries, my ereader, chargers, socks, undies for every day, pjs and my travel outfit which included a sweater for when I was cold on the plane.
What do you think of what to pack for the Bahamas? Have you been? What did you pack?
