What would Olivia Pope Wear?

I just got into watching Scandal. We watched the first season in a matter of days. I now see what all the fuss was about. Such a fantastic show.

It isn’t just the mystery and the way Olivia and her team handle everything in front of them.

Just like everyone else it seems I am enamored with Olivia’s style on the show. It is understated and elegant. I love how she wears a pallet of soft pastels with grey. Her totes are structured and her jackets are ultra feminine. I read that the choice of pastels and lady like details like peplum jackets were done on purpose to emphasis Oliva Pope’s femininity in a traditionally male profession.

I think the style on Scandal is speaking to me more than ever because I have just re-entered the workforce. And into a job that is traditionally male dominated (I am a CPA by day). I definitely want to take style tips from Olivia Pope!

One of the things that I love about Olivia Pope’s style more than anything is that she wears wide leg trousers more than anything else. To make them still feminine and get that whole fit and flare silhouette the jackets drape perfectly or are belted or even have a peplum. I might be a bit over the peplum top but jackets with the whole fit and flare still feel right. Plus jackets have so much more structure to make it work for more than just the ultra slim.
