Since I have started posting outfit pictures I have noticed that I have sort of two looks that I gravitate between. One end of the spectrum is more preppy and tailored looking. The other end of the spectrum is a bit more casual and edgy.
I would like to say I can pull of everything in between but because I am not super thin I find that the looks in between, or anything to drapey and slouchy tends to look more sloppy than cool.
But I am glad I have figured it out, saves alot of time when trying to get dressed. And it makes me think twice when I try things on at the store.
I tend not to play up the high-waisted-ness of these jeans, mostly because there is a negative association with high waists equalling mom jeans.
But I am rebelling here and tucking in my shirt; showing off the high waist in all its glory. Because the reality is a trouser jean is super flattering and not a “mom jean”. Those evil mom jeans are from about 1992, high waisted, tapered (not skinny, tapered there is a difference) and pleated. They are all kinds of bad and I am pretty sure no denim makers are making them anymore. At least I hope so!!
Nevertheless, high waists, or even mid rise keeps the muffin top under control. And I like it.
Outfit detials: Scarf Smart Set (old), Jacket Zara (old), stripe top GAP, trouser jeans Paige (similar).
What is your take on high-waisted denim?
